INSS will have a national queue to reduce waiting time

Brazilians take a long time to make a financial plan for retirement

The Benefits Management Program (PGB) of the National Social Security Institute (INSS) has undergone changes, with the aim of reducing process processing times. INSS will have a national queue to reduce waiting time

Among the main changes is the nationalization of the queue, with the optimization of servers to handle demands. To the new rules were published in the Official Gazette of the Union.

“The idea is that the workforce from regions with better indicators can act in the processes of those who are waiting longer. Furthermore, we focus on those benefits that have a greater number of people waiting”, declared the president of INSS, Gilberto Waller.

According to the Queue Reportreleased by the institution in October 2025, the average time for granting benefits was reduced to 35 days, after reaching a peak waiting period with an average of 64 daysin March last year.

According to Waller, the effort will be concentrated on the benefits with the largest number of people waiting.

“This is the priority for us to really attack this queue: such as BPC (Continuous Payment Benefit) cases and disability benefits. This represents almost 80% of our queue and these are the ones we will attack as a priority.”

Program

Created through Law 15,201/2025the PGB aims to accelerate the review of INSS benefits and reduce the waiting list in processes, through bonuses for experts and INSS employees, for activities beyond their usual capacity.

It is called the Extraordinary Payment of the Benefits Management Program of the National Social Security Institute (PEPGB), which also underwent changes.

Daily limits and rules were established for employees’ participation in the program, in addition to quality control criteria.

In November 2025, after a 23% increase in the volume of new processes throughout the year, the INSS also established a strategic committee to monitor, evaluate and propose solutions to reduce the queue of benefit applications.
