INSS benefits above the minimum will have a 5.93% readjustment

The benefits of the National Institute of Social Security (INSS) above a minimum wage will rise 5.93% this year, confirmed today (10) the Ministry of Social Security. The adjustment will follow last year’s National Consumer Price Index (INPC), released earlier by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).

With the definition of the readjustment index, the INSS ceiling will rise by R$ 420.27. The highest value benefits will increase from BRL 7,087.22 last year to BRL 7,507.49 in 2023.

In addition to correcting benefits above the minimum wage, the INPC is applied to readjust Social Security contributions. These contributions rise with salary. The more the active worker receives, the more he is subject to additional rates that increase the contribution.

Benefits linked to the minimum wage will rise 8.91%, from R$1,212 to R$1,320. However, this value still needs to be made official through a provisional measure. Until now, the minimum wage of R$ 1,302, published at the end of last year, is officially valid. Originally, the announcement ceremony of the new minimum wage was scheduled for yesterday (9), but it was postponed because of the terrorist acts in Brasilia last Sunday (8).

The INSS will begin paying January benefits at the end of the month. For those who earn a minimum wage, the payment of retirement, pension or aid will be made between January 25th and February 7th. Those who receive more than the minimum will have the benefit deposited between February 1st and 7th.INSS benefits above the minimum will have a 5.93% readjustment
