There were also no mandatory items for guests, such as the Dial 180 posters, to combat violence against women, Say no to sexual tourism and the explanatory leaflet on AIDS prevention.
Another hotel inspected on the Copacabana waterfront also did not have an explanatory leaflet on how to prevent HIV, and only provided condoms to customers. The third inspected, also on Avenida Atlântica, did not have AIDS prevention leaflets, nor the Procon-RJ complaints book.
Three kiosks on the waterfront that organize packages for the New Year’s Eve they received notices of irregularities for not having the mandatory posters Dial 151, which provides the telephone number and address of Procon-RJ, and Dial 180, for preventing violence against women. There was also no sign in one of the kiosks indicating that the sale of alcoholic beverages to minors was prohibited.
According to the president of Procon-RJ, Marcelo Barboza, joint actions are important to ensure that consumer rights are respected and prevent problems in consumer relations, as well as to strengthen the State Consumer Protection System, which is managed by Sedcon. “Procon-RJ goes hand in hand with Sedcon also in this moment of celebration, which is the New Year’s Eveso that the consumer is well served in fair consumption environments. Therefore, it is important that establishments follow what the Consumer Protection Code recommends and provide clear and transparent information”, said Barboza.
