INPEC dragoneante attacked in Cartagena: he received two gunshot wounds and remains under medical care

“At this moment he is being treated by doctors, because due to the recent events we do not know precisely his state of health. The National Police deployed an investigative operation with support from intelligence and the Judicial Police to collect as much information as possible. The officer added that no hypothesis is ruled out about the motives for the attack and that security measures were reinforced around the Ternera prison, given the wave of recent attacks against INPEC officials in various regions of the country.

The authorities also reported that, at the moment, no direct contact has been established with the dragoneer’s family. Palacios, a native of another region of the country, lived in Cartagena as a tenant and had more than two years linked to the National Penitentiary and Prison Institute (INPEC).

The case adds to the attacks registered in recent days against guards and dragoneers in different prisons in the country, which has led to the Ombudsman’s Office to ask the National Government to evaluate the declaration of a prison emergency to strengthen the security of prison system officials.
