The National Penitentiary Institute (INPE) reported that former Betssy Chavez Chinese received medical attention at the María Auxiliadora Hospital and returned to the Annex Annex Establishment Women Chorrillos, where it is in stable condition.
It specifies that on July 22, the internal referred, who is on hunger strike and ingests only liquids, was evaluated by the health service of the penalty and transferred to said hospital, as a preventive measure.
In the aforementioned hospital, the INPE requires, several clinical exams were performed, he received medical care and, on the recommendation of his attending physician, he was returned to the penitentiary enclosure the same day, without additional medical indications.
“To date the internal is in stable condition,” says the statement released on its social networks.
He also points out that the internal was notified on July 22 on the judicial diligence scheduled for today.
On its unjustified absence to the diligence of July 15, the INPE specifies that this constitutes a serious offense, according to the unique text of the Criminal Execution Code, so they evaluate the sanction that it could receive, if applicable.
“INPE reaffirms its unrestricted commitment to the respect and protection of human rights of all persons deprived of liberty, weighing the principle of authority and order within prison establishments nationwide,” says the statement.
Betssy Chávez is judged by the alleged crime of rebellion, together with former president Pedro Castillo, for the crime of rebellion and others, for having tried to perpetrate a coup on December 7, 2022.
