The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) warns of storms in the south and southeast of São Paulo, the entire state of Mato Grosso do Sul and Rio Grande do Sul until Monday morning (17).
Intense rains of between 30 and 60 millimeters are forecast, possibly reaching 100 millimeters, and strong winds, between 60 and 100 km/h. Conditions that increase the risk for homeless people and animals and attention to those who need to travel in these regions.
For a smaller range, andBetween the central and western regions of Paraná and Rio Grande do Sul, a severe warning was issued, with winds above 100km/h and rainfall exceeding 100 millimeters per daywith the possibility of precipitation of up to 60 mm/hour.
On a technical note, the Inmet informs that there is “great risk of damage to buildings, electricity cuts, damage to plantations, falling trees, flooding and disruption to road transport” for the region.
Last week, the city of Rio Bonito do Iguaçu (PR) was hit by a tornado, leaving several people homeless.
Still in Rio Grande do Sul, there is a forecast of a sudden drop in temperature during the night, of up to 5 degrees Celsius, affecting cities such as Alegrete, São Gabriel and Uruguaiana.
On the coast, in the range between Paranaguá (PR) and the extreme south, the forecast is for strong winds until the end of Monday afternoon.
Areas such as São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, southern Minas Gerais, central and southern Espírito Santo, Mato Grosso, Rondônia, Acre and the eastern region of Amazonas are under a moderate storm warning, with the possibility of isolated rain showers today and tomorrow.
