The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) issued this Monday (15) an orange alert for storms and winds that could reach 100 km/h in Rio Grande do Sul. The warning is valid until 10 am this Tuesday (16). 
According to the alert, 30 to 100 millimeters of rain per day are predicted; intense winds, from 60 to 100 km/h; and hail. There is a risk of electricity cuts, damage to crops, falling trees and flooding.
All areas of RS, according to Inmet, could be affected, including the Metropolitan region of Porto Alegrewith the exception of the southernmost border portion of the state, such as Uruguaiana, Santana do Livramento and Bagé. The entire coast of the state could be affected by coastal winds and movement of dunes.
This Monday, a 24-meter statue from the Havan store collapsed in the chain’s parking lot in Guaíba, Rio Grande do Sul. There were no injuries.

Inmet’s recommendation is that in case of gusts of wind, people do not take shelter under trees, due to the risk of falling and electrical discharges.
The institute also advises against parking vehicles near transmission towers and advertising signs.
If possible, turn off electrical appliances and the general power supply.
