The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) issued this Saturday (10) an orange alert for the occurrence of storms and coastal winds in the southern states of the country.
The orange alert, which is valid until 12pm this Sunday (11), is the intermediate level between the three warnings issued by the institute: yellow, for potential danger; orange, for danger; and red, for great danger.
According to Inmet, rain of 30 to 60 millimeters per hour or 50 to 100 mm per day, intense winds (60-100 km/h), and hail are forecast for the three states of the Southern Region.
There is a risk of electricity cuts, damage to crops, falling trees and flooding.
In the Lagoa dos Patos region, in Rio Grande do Sul, winds will intensify in coastal regions, moving sand dunes over buildings on the shore.
According to Inmet, in case of gusts of wind, the advice is not to take shelter under trees and not to park vehicles near transmission towers and advertising signs. It is also recommended to avoid using electronic devices plugged into the socket.
If necessary, Civil Defense can be contacted by calling 199 and the Fire Department can be called 193
