The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) issued this Friday (30) an orange alert for storms and heavy rain that could hit 16 units of the federation by this Saturday (31). 
The federative units that may be affected are:
- Amazon,
- To;
- Rondônia;
- Federal District;
- Mato Grosso do Sul;
- Mato Grosso;
- Tocantins;
- Goiás;
- Bahia;
- Holy Spirit;
- Minas Gerais;
- Rio de Janeiro;
- São Paulo;
- Paraná;
- Rio Grande do Sul;
- Santa Catarina.
The orange alert, which is valid until 11:59 pm on Saturday, is the intermediate level between the three warnings issued by the institute: yellow, for potential danger; orange, for danger; and red, for great danger.
According to Inmet, the orange alert means a dangerous meteorological situation. The recommendation is for people to remain vigilant and regularly inform themselves about forecast weather conditions.
In the southern states, the region that is expected to be most affected is the east, which includes the cities of Curitiba, Joinville (SC), Florianópolis, Criciúma (SC), Caxias do Sul (RS), Porto Alegre, Pelotas (RS) and Rio Grande (RS).
In the Central-West, the areas of Goiânia, Rio Verde (GO) and Caldas Novas (GO), Brasília, Anápolis (GO), Gurupi (TO), Sorriso (MT), Sinop (MT), Alta Floresta (MT) should be reached.
In the North, they are Ariquemes (RO), Porto Velho, and practically the entire state of Amazonas, including the capital, with the exception of the northernmost and southernmost portions of the state.
In the Northeast, the greatest danger is in the south of the state of Bahia, in the areas of the cities of Vitória da Conquista, Porto Seguro, and Luís Eduardo Magalhães.
Cyclone in the Southeast
According to Inmet, the formation of a cyclone on the coast of the Southeast region this Friday (30) favors the occurrence of large volumes of rain for the states of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, in addition to the south of Minas Gerais.
Predicted rainfall totals exceed 100 mm in the Serra da Mantiqueira areas, while on the São Paulo coast volumes may exceed 60 mm.
The affected areas cover the regions of the capital of São Paulo, Itanhaém (SP), Campinas (SP), Ribeirão Preto (SP), São José do Rio Preto (SP), the entire state of Rio de Janeiro, and practically all of Espírito Santo and Minas Gerais, excepting only the northernmost part of these states.
