Havana Cuba. – An inmate of the Kilo 5 1⁄2 prison in the province of Pinar del Río died of electrocution this Thursday morning while doing chapeo work, according to what he denounced in a telephone conversation with CubaNet another prisoner in this prison.
The deceased prisoner was identified as Yampier Justi and lived in the Colón neighborhood of the Centro Habana municipality, in the Cuban capital.
“He died because of their negligence here [directivos del penal]because he was boarding up a two-meter-high roof where there was a high-voltage cable, ”said the inmate consulted.
The news of the death was confirmed by the brother of the deceased, Adonis Ruíz Justi, who assured CubaNet that up to the time of writing this note the authorities had not offered him the details of what happened.
“They have not explained anything to me. They only told me that my brother was electrocuted; They called me from the prison and gave me the news and that’s it, nothing more. You have to wait until they bring him here to see how the situation was,” said Ruíz Justi.
