INM Council calls for eliminating excessive use of force

After the events that occurred in Chiapas, in which six migrants died and 10 more were injured by shots fired by Army elements, the Citizen Council of the National Migration Institute (INM) expressed its deep indignationwhile calling on that institute to convene the security authorities so that establish commitments to eliminate excesses in the use of force, arbitrary detentions and criminalization of people in migration situations.

Until last night, the INM had not issued any position on the matter.

In its public position, disseminated through social networks, said council urged the new federal administration to assume its responsibility and due diligence in the investigations carried out to punish those responsible for this tragedy.

He asserted that according to its powers, they call on the INM to urgently convene the authorities in matters of public security, with the intention of establish strong agreements that guarantee the human rights of people in the context of mobility and establish commitments to eliminate any practice that involves excesses in the use of force, arbitrary detentions and the criminalization of migrants.
