The authority highlighted that from January 1 to December 28, the regular entry of 31 million 708,774 nationals and foreigners to Mexico was registered.
The INM said that in 2022 it carried out training actions to combat human trafficking, and made 1,609 probable perpetrators of said crime available to the public prosecutor; it also insured 1,502 vehicles.
In coordination with national and international security authorities, the INM rejected the admission of 3,744 people for having an immigration alert, including 613 for probable sexual crimes, 14 for having an arrest warrant, and 956 for bad records, among others.
“One of the priorities of the institute is the fight against corruption and for this it expanded its surveillance system in the most important airports in the country, in immigration facilities and in different points of admission,” he said.
The INM also incorporated the PinPad system (payment terminal) to avoid cash collection and any type of discretion between users and public servants. It also installed automated gates (E-GATES), 12 at the Mexico City International Airport and 18 at the Cancun International Airport.
“Regarding the humanitarian tasks carried out by the INM, through Beta Groups, 171,653 assistance to national and foreign migrants during their transit through the country stands out,” he said.
“Likewise, the recovery of 84 bodies of those who lost their lives trying to cross the Rio Grande, crossing the mountains, the desert or falling from a train,” he explained.
From January to December 2022, the INM, through the Héroes Paisanos Program, served 2,287,706 compatriots who visited Mexico during Easter, summer, and winter periods.
INM highlighted that among its objectives is the safeguarding and protection of migrants in vulnerable conditions such as girls, boys, adolescents and pregnant women, in addition to the elderly or those with disabilities.
“In this sense, 12,914 minors were identified, of which 741 were under 11 years old and 12,173 were between 12 and 17 years old; eight teens were pregnant. Each and every one of them remained under the guardianship of the System for the Comprehensive Development of the Family (DIF) ”, he explained.
In 2022, the INM received and helped 262,265 repatriated compatriots.
