Injured leave protest against Barrick Gold dam construction

Several people were injured by pellets this Wednesday during a confrontation between mixed units of the Army of the Dominican Republic and the Police National with protesters who oppose the construction of the mining company’s tail dam barrick Gold in the Las Tres Bocas community, in Cotuiprovince Sanchez Ramirez.

Among the injured is the priest Catholic Johnny Duranwho tried mediate between peasants and members of military organizations.

The religious condemned the action of the members of the law enforcementwhich also included tear gas bombs.
