Maria Renée Castro, Minister of Health, reported that in less than two weeks 127,916 doses were administered against influenza in Bolivia, of which, 20,304 are pediatric and 107,612 for adults.
“With regard to the issue of vaccination, as of today (May 13) on the Electronic Vaccination Nominal Registry platform we have 127,916 doses that have been administered, Therefore, we have a significant number of immunized people in the countrywhich does not justify that the population is not coming to get vaccinated,” said the minister at a press conference, from the city of La Paz.
According to the plan that is applied, the vaccines are intended for risk groups framed as girls and boys from 6 to 23 months, chronically ill patients, pregnant women, health personnel and people over 60 years of age.
The stage of immunization It started on May 2 and will end on July 31; In parallel, girls and boys from 2 to 12 years old will be immunized in a second phase, from July 1 to 31.
“We must be cautious, especially with the biosafety protocol (…) Children have to go with masks to the Educational Units, in the environments they must have 70% alcohol available, soap in the bathrooms so that they do not forget to wash their hands and always have them clean, thus avoiding becoming infected with either influenza or another respiratory virus,” concluded the health authority.
