On January 12, the INDEC (National Institute of Statistics and Censuses) will reveal the official figure on the inflation December, which the Government expects to remain around 4% or less.
Meanwhile, private consultants are already making their projections and estimate that the price index for the last month of the year it will remain similar to that of November, when inflation stood at 4.9%.
According to forecasts, the inflation in December it was between 4.3% and 5%for which they also estimate that the annual accumulated is below 100%, which was projected in recent months.
The highest percentage was stipulated by the consulting firm PxQ, directed by Emmanuel Álvarez Agis, which calculates that prices increased 5% before the end of 2022. The same projection is made by Eco Go.
While for Ecolatina, the price increase reached 4.3% in December, that is, a much lower figure than that registered in November and which would be much more in line with the Government’s expectations.
In all cases, the private consultants project an annual accumulation of between 94% and 95%. However, it must be borne in mind that December is one of the months with the most expenses, so the figure could even be higher than expected.
It should be remembered that throughout 2022 the monthly price variation reached new records, even since the beginning of the year, since in February it climbed to 4.7%, then in March it rose 6.7%, a trend that was maintained in April with 6, 0%. Then in July and August the highest levels were reached with 7.4% and 7.0% respectively..
Why inflation could drop in December
One of the Government’s purposes is that, between now and April, the price index is located at 3%, for this it implemented a series of strategies in order to control prices during the coming months.
This, mainly through the Fair Prices program, through which, and through voluntary agreements, ceilings for increases were set, prices were frozen, especially food, and other measures were taken with different sectors so as not to further affect the pocket of the consumers.
