November closed with a inflation of 0.09%, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI), after two consecutive months with decline. In the penultimate month, one of the sectors with the greatest impact on the result was restaurants and hotels, whose prices fell by 0.11%. Within this category, an increase was observed in food service and a la carte dishes, such as chaufa rice, which suffered an increase of 0.5%.
An increase was also recorded in the food and non-alcoholic beverage sector, which rose 0.03%. This item was affected by the increase in fish and shellfish, and some fruits, such as strong avocado, mandarin, passion fruit, among others.
In this regard, economist Juan Carlos Odar stated that inflation will close 2024 within the target range and pointed out that November’s result does not generate inflationary pressure. “In Lima, eating with S/10 can only be done by making big adjustments and looking for the vegetables that have dropped the most, or only buying the relatively cheap protein (egg). The issue is whether with that budget you can feed yourself adequately,” he added.
