This Monday, September 5, the National Institute of Statistics (INE) presented the monthly report on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) corresponding to August 2022, which registered a monthly variation of 0.83%, accumulated in the year of 7.74%, and in the last 12 months of 9.53%.
According to the INE, the main incidences, in the monthly variation of the index, come from the following divisions: “Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages” (0.22), “Housing” (0.06), “Furniture and Articles for the Home” (0.14), “Health” (0.16), “Recreation and Culture” (0.06) and “Education” (0.07).
Evolution
Throughout the year, inflation has been outside the target range established by the Central Bank of Uruguay (BCU).
In the last 12 months to July, inflation stood at 9.56%, the highest guarimo since January; in June it was 9.29%, in May it was 9.37%, in April it was also 9.37%, while in March it was 9.38%, in February 8.85% and in January 8.15%.
