In January, the Metropolitan Lima Consumer Price Index decreased 0.09%, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI). In this way, the inflation accumulated an advance of 1.85% in 12 months (February 2024 – January 2025).
During the first month of the year, the sector with the highest incidence was the transport whose prices fell 0.99% due to the lower demand for tickets after the year -end holiday. In addition, a reduction in the cost of national and international air tickets was also observed.
Within this item, there was an increase in the value of vehicle fuel. In this way, Gasohol increased by 1.3%), while liquefied vehicular oil gas by 1%.
Another sector that also showed a reduction in its prices was that of non-alcoholic foods and drinks (-0.33%), given the lower costs of the eviscerated chicken and its cuts, coriander, basil and eggs.
Contrary, fruits such as granadilla, papaya, juice orange, mango, strawberry and strong avocado increased, as well as pepper pepper, yellow pepper, green peas, beterraga, yellow potato, cassava, among others.
On the other hand, the restaurant and hotels sector recorded a 0.36%increase, while that of diverse goods and services rose 0.19%. The latter rose for the greatest costs in the beauty salons.
The INEI also revealed that the consumer price index at the national level fell 0.08%, while construction machinery rose to 0.10% in the first month of the year.
