Inflation in January it moderated and it was located at 8.05% accumulated in the last 12 months.
The data released this Friday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE) show that the Consumer Price Index (CPI) registered a monthly variation of 1.55% in the first month of the year. The data was below what was expected by the market (1.7% according to the BCU survey).
This variation was driven -as has been the case for several years in January- due to the end of the bonus plans that UTE applies in December. He UTE Rewards lowers the household electricity bill at the end of each year and then in January the values return to normal, which causes a jump in prices.

The relevant data is year-on-year inflation, which in the last month had a slight moderation. In any case, the indicator is still above the target range set by the Central Bank of Uruguay (between 3% and 6%).
