Inflation loses strength in the middle and low income groups, says Ipea

Inflation fell for five of the six income ranges analyzed by the Institute for Applied Economic Research (Ipea), in November this year, compared to the previous month. Only families with high incomes had an increase in the inflation rate in the period (from 0.27% in October to 0.64% in November), due to the 22.7% increase in air tickets.Inflation loses strength in the middle and low income groups, says Ipea

The biggest drop was observed among families with very low income, for which the rate fell from 0.75% to 0.26%. The result was caused by the reduction in energy tariffs, despite increases in food prices.

The other income groups presented the following variations: low income (from 0.71% to 0.32%), low-middle income (from 0.61% to 0.35%), middle income (from 0.54% to 0.39%) and upper-middle income (from 0.49% to 0.35%).

Families with low income had the highest inflation rate in the year (4.50%) and in the last 12 months (5.08%). Those with high income had the lowest rates in both comparisons: 3.86% in the year and 4.50% in 12 months.
