The National Consumer Price Index (INPC), which measures the variation in the shopping basket of families with an income of up to five times the minimum wage, registered inflation of 1% in February this year. The rate is higher than that observed in January (0.67%) and the highest for a month of February since 2015 (1.16%).
According to the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), the INPC rate was slightly below that observed by the IPCA, which measures official inflation, and which registered a variation of 1.01%.
In 12 months, the INPC accumulates a rate of 10.80%, above the 10.54% registered by the IPCA.
In February, food products had inflation of 1.25%. The non-food items had a 0.92% rise in prices.
