The National Consumer Price Index (INPC), which measures inflation for families with an income of up to five times the minimum wage, had an inflation of 0.45% in May. It was below the one observed in April (1.04%) and in May 2021 (0.96%).
The INPC accumulates inflation of 4.96% in the year and 11.90% in 12 months, below the 12.47% in April.
In May, the INPC was lower than the official inflation, measured by the Broad National Consumer Price Index (IPCA): 0.47%. In the year and 12 months, the IPCA had lower percentages: 4.78% and 11.73%, respectively.
In May, food products had inflation of 0.63%, down from 2.26% in April. Non-food items registered a 0.39% rise in prices, a percentage lower than in April: 0.66%.
