The National Consumer Price Index (INPC), which measures changes in the shopping basket for families with incomes of up to five minimum wages, recorded inflation of 0.46% in January this year. The rate was below that observed in December (0.69%).
The INPC accumulated in 12 months is 5.71%. The indicator showed lower rates than those observed by the Extended National Consumer Price Index (IPCA), which measures official inflation and which recorded rates of 0.53% in January and 5.77% in 12 months.
In January, food products surveyed by the INPC had inflation of 0.52%, less intense variation than in December (0.74%). The same happened with non-food products, whose inflation changed from 0.67% in December to 0.44% in January.
