Inflation fell 0.09% in October, according to the INEI

The inflation It fell 0.09% in October, according to information from the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI). In this way, the Metropolitan Lima Consumer Price Index advanced 2.01% in 12 months.

By sector, food and non-alcoholic beverages registered a decrease of 0.64%, due to lower prices of legumes and tubers, which fell 27.2%, green beans (-14.3%), corn (-12.1%), and head onions. (-5.2%).

On the contrary, increases were recorded in fish and shellfish, including horse mackerel (22.5%), mackerel (20.7%), hake (13%), bonito (10.5%) and parrotfish (5.9%). The costs of citrus fruits such as passion fruit (32.8%), lemon (17.7%), mandarin (8.9%) and table orange (5.8%) also increased.

Meanwhile, the miscellaneous goods and services sector showed a variation of 0.18%, due to the increase in hairdressing salons and personal care establishments. Regarding the category of restaurants and hotels, it increased by 0.17%, while that of accommodation, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels by 0.11%.

On the other hand, the National Consumer Price Index fell 0.04%, which accumulated an advance of 1.73% in 12 months (between November 2023 and October 2024).

This result is mainly explained by the behavior of three consumption divisions: food and non-alcoholic beverages (-0.36%) and to a lesser extent communications (-0.07%) and transportation (-0.06%).
