In September, the Consumer Price Index fell 0.24% in Metropolitan Lima, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI). In this way, the inflation accumulated an advance of 1.78% in 12 months, its lowest level in almost four years.

Only in the ninth month of the year, the food and non-alcoholic beverage sector was the one that showed the greatest impact on the result with a negative variation of 097%. This item was affected by the fall in the prices of whole garlic (-26.4%), corn (-21.8%), and head onion (-10.5%).
A decline was also observed in some fruits such as mango (-20.7%), blueberries (-12.2%), strawberries (-10%) and table oranges (-3.6%). However, an increase was observed in the prices of gutted chicken (2.7%), breast (1.5%), and piera (1.3%).
On the other hand, the transportation sector presented a decrease of 0.40% due to lower prices for interprovincial bus tickets (-9.2%), and national and international air tickets (-9.7% and -3% respectively.
The panorama of the various goods and services sector was different, which presented a variation of 0.18% due to the increase in the prices of hair salons and personal care establishments with hair dyeing.
Restaurants and hotels, meanwhile, grew 0.16% due to the increase in prices for food service in restaurants, including tamales, sandwiches, chicken broth and restaurants.
