For 2019, it was increased to 950 million; in 2020 it rose to 1,071 million, while in 2021, it stood at 870 million, however, in the current year a historic figure of 4,913 million pesos was reached.
To the base budget requested by the INE for 2023 for 11,769.76 million pesos, the project portfolio must be added for an amount of 2,669.88 million pesos, that is, 14,439.64 million pesos.
To this must be added the 6,233.51 million pesos for the financing of the seven registered national political parties, so that in total the INE will request a total of 20,673.15 million pesos for 2023. Of the total amount, only 2.2% corresponds to spending on the offices of the electoral consultants.
2023 budget, lower than in 2017
Ana Laura Martínez, technical secretary of the Temporary Budget Commission of the INE (CTP) 2023, explained that the base budget requested by the Institute for next year for an amount of 11,769.76 million pesos, is less than that required in 2017, the previous year to the Federal Electoral Process 2017-2018, when 11 thousand 913.68 million pesos were requested and the Legislative Power approved 11,641.18 million pesos.
