In compliance with the resolution issued by the National Council of Autonomies, the National Institute of Statistics (INE), between August 29 and September 13, held a series of meetings in the nine departments of the country to socialize the results of the population count of the Population and Housing Census (Census 2024). During these technical events, the data collection process was presented and there was participation from departmental and local authorities, academic institutions and representatives of social organizations.
This Friday, the INE, through its executive general director, Humberto Arandia, presented the results of the population count of the 2024 Census, which It was carried out on March 23 in apple-covered areas and until March 25 in scattered areas in the department of Cochabamba. “Today we are concluding the mandate established for us by the National Council of Autonomies, to carry out the socialization of the results of the Population and Housing Census in the nine departments,” said the authority.
The event, which took place at the INE Cochabamba facilities, was attended by the municipal mayors of Pojo, Cesar Coria; of Capinota, Nanci Colque; of TIraq, Adolfo Mérida; the president of the Association of Autonomous Municipal Governments of Cochabamba (Amdeco) and the Mayor of Tarata, Daniel Vallejos; representatives of the municipal governments of Cochabamba, Quillacollo, Tapacari, in addition to the Departmental Legislative Assembly, social organizations, among other institutions.
The director of the INE highlighted the broad participation of the authorities of the municipalities of the department of Cochabamba to learn about the Results of the 2024 Census population counttaking into account that this department registered a population of 2,005,373 inhabitants.
“In this sense we are drawing a very favorable technical conclusion, where if we observe the technical logic, the political logic is prevailing in this sense we are very proud of the work that is being done, of the maturity that is being given the Bolivian population that the census is a technical job“, he noted.
Within the framework of transparency, from the August 29th to date, INE announced the results of the 2024 Census population count in the departments of Santa Cruz, La Paz, Tarija, Potosí, Chuquisaca, Oruro, Pando, Beni and Cochabamba.
Once the socialization stage in the departments has been completed, the INE has called for a national technical work table that will take place on Monday, September 16. At this meeting, which will bring together key players, technical consistency will be reviewed of the data in an exercise of total transparency, reinforcing confidence in the results of the 2024 Census, where broad participation of departmental and municipal authorities, university representatives, social organizations, among other sectors is expected.
“The national technical table for discussion of the results of the Population and Housing Census will be set up, which we have already sent to the authorities, we are talking about governorships, mayors of the capital cities, plus El Alto, representatives of the Departmental Municipal Associations (AMDES), the Federation of Municipal Associations of Bolivia (FAM) and others within the territorial organization to be able to discuss the results of the Census,” he said.
Arandia said that the INE reaffirms its commitment to transparency by opening the census data for technical review at the national level and by specialized international organizations,thus guaranteeing the seriousness and technical consistency of the results of the population count presented to the country.
