Sales of the manufacturing industry entered negative territory in February, standing at -1.1% in that reference month. For his part, real production registered a variation of 0.4% and that of employed personnel reached 1.3%, when comparing with February 2022.

This is indicated by the most recent report of the Daneaccording to which of the 39 industrial activities represented by the survey, a total of 15 registered positive variations in their real production, adding 3.6 percentage points to the total annual variation and 24 subsectors with negative variations together subtracted 3.3 percentage points from the total variation.
The highest negative variation was registered in Manufacture of travel articles, handbags and similar leather articles with 40.8%. Similarly, in this activity, the decrease in sales stood out with 38.7%.

Production also fell in Basic Industries of precious and non-ferrous metals with 26.9%, in Manufacture of other types of transport equipment (18.4%), Manufacture of basic chemical substances and their products (16.5%) and Manufacture of footwear (11.7%), to name a few.
For its part, throughout the year until February 2023, the real production of the manufacturing industry presented a variation of 0.4%, real sales of -0.3% and employed personnel of 1.4%.

In the first two months of 2023, of the 39 industrial activities represented by the survey, a total of 18 registered positive variations in their real production, adding 4.2 percentage points to the total variation year to date, and 21 subsectors with negative variations remained in set 3.9 percentage points to the total variation.
