Real revenue in the country’s manufacturing industry grew 6.3% in June this year, compared to the previous month. The increase shows a recovery from the 4.8% drop observed in May. With this result, the sector accumulated a growth of 1.4% in its real revenue, in the first half of the year, compared to the same period of the previous year.
The data was released this Thursday (1st) by the National Confederation of Industry (CNI).
“The recovery brought about by the indicators in June reflects the overcoming of a series of problems that affected activity in May, when industrial production had been severely affected by strikes in the automotive sector and the effects of the rains in Rio Grande do Sul,” says CNI’s Economic Analysis Manager, Marcelo Azevedo.
According to him, the floods in Rio Grande do Sul affected not only the industrial sector of Rio Grande do Sul, but also factories that depend on inputs produced in that state.
The indicator of the number of hours worked in Brazilian industry grew 2.2% between May and June and accumulated a rise of 2.6% in the first half of the year. The real wage bill in the sector also increased from May to June (4.3%) and in the accumulated period of the semester (3.8%).
The average income of workers showed growth of 4.2% in June, compared to May, and 2.2% in the first half of the year.
Employment in the sector was the only indicator that did not increase in the month, as it remained stable from May to June. In the first half of the year, employment in the industry has accumulated an increase of 1.6%, according to the CNI.
