In November 2025, industrial production recorded zero change (0.0%) compared to the previous month, when it had increased by 0.1%. As a result, the industry remains 2.4% above the pre-pandemic level (February 2020).
However, it is still 14.8% below the record level seen in May 2011. Compared to November 2024, the data indicates that the industry once again showed a drop in production with a decline of 1.2%.
Year-to-date, there was growth of 0.6%, and, in the last 12 months, 0.7%. Although it shows a loss of pace in relation to the results of previous months, it remained in the positive field. The numbers are part of the Monthly Industrial Survey (PIM), released this Thursday (8) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
According to IBGE, production in November in two of the four major economic categories and 15 of the 25 industrial sectors surveyed showed a drop, compared to the immediately previous month.
“The main negative influence was registered by extractive industries, which fell 2.6% in November”, informed the IBGE, in a note.
According to the research manager, André Macedo, the drop noted this month was influenced by the lower production of crude oil, natural gas and iron ores.
“It is worth noting that the retraction eliminated part of the 3.5% increase seen in October, when it interrupted two consecutive months of decline in production. This month we observed a greater number of activities in the negative field.”
