The Industrial Entrepreneur Confidence Index (Icei), of the National Confederation of Industry (CNI), increased 0.7 point in December 2021 compared to November, rising from 56 to 56.7.
The rally interrupts a streak of three falls, when the Icei retreated 7.2 points. This index varies between 0 and 100, having a cut line at 50 points. Data above 50 indicate confidence and below lack of confidence. 1,471 companies were interviewed between the 1st and 7th of December.
The indicator is above the historical average of 54.1 points.
However, compared to December last year there is a decline. The Icei dropped from 63.1 to 56.7. “This drop reveals that confidence is less widespread and intense than at the end of 2020”, says the CNI.
The perception for the next six months is 60.1 points, which, according to the CNI, shows that optimism for the next semester is stronger and more widespread.
