The Industrial Entrepreneur Confidence Index (Icei) dropped 8.5 points between October and November 2022 and is at 51.7 points. It is the second consecutive month of worsening confidence, after successive advances in optimism in the industrial sector throughout the year. The data were released today (11) by the National Confederation of Industry (CNI).
Despite the sharp drop, industry entrepreneurs remain confident, as the indicator remains above the 50-point dividing line, which separates a state of confidence from a state of lack of confidence.
According to the CNI, the worsening was more intense when evaluating the future of the economy in the next six months. The Expectations Index, one of the two components of the Icei, dropped from 59.3 points to 45.9 points, crossing the 50-point dividing line. “In this case, the industrial sector migrated from optimism to pessimism”, explains the CNI.
Economy
The Current Conditions Index, another Icei component, dropped 3.7 points to 53.2 points. By remaining above 50 points, the index continues to point to an improvement in the current conditions of the Brazilian economy and companies in relation to the previous six months.
“In the opinion of entrepreneurs, however, the perception of improvement is weaker and less widespread than in the month of October”, explained the CNI, in a statement.
Between November 1 and 8, 2022, 1,578 companies were consulted, of which 620 were small, 590 were medium-sized and 368 were large.
