Indotel delivers Digital Social Basket to 2,000 women

The Dominican Institute of telecommunications (indotel) and the Supérate program started the Digital Social Basket project, an initiative that contemplates impacting 2,000 female heads of household who will benefit from access to telecommunications for 24 months.

Through this program, Altice Dominicana, the successful bidder, will provide each of the beneficiaries with a postpaid plan with a 20 GB mobile internet service and 100 minutes of voice. Also, a smartphone with a 6.5” screen, 3GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage.

The service plan has a cost of RD$1,061.12, of which the beneficiaries will pay RD$200 per month and the indotel RD$861.12.

Women can use it entrepreneurs to promote their products and services, supervise their household chores, make videos, take pictures, participate in social networks, listen to music and news, talk for free with their relatives and related people on WhatsApp and Instagram, among other uses.

The basket will be implemented in 16 municipalities of 11 provinces, namely: Juan Santiago, Neiba, Fundación, Vicente Noble, Pedernales, San Pedro de Macorís, Consuelo, Los Llanos, Quisqueya, Ramón Santana, Santa Cruz del Seibo, San Ignacio de Sabaneta , Mao, Monte Plata, Hato Mayor del Rey and San Juan de la Maguana.

The President of the Board of Directors of the indotelNelson Arroyo, reported that the basket aims to contribute to the human development and family well-being of the beneficiaries, through the use of the Internet and technology.

Arroyo indicated that the 2,000 beneficiaries will participate in a digital literacy program with a gender focus so that they can develop in the social and labor spheres through an adequate use of digital technologies.

He explained that the Digital Social Basket is a program sponsored by the indotelthrough the Fund for the Development of telecommunications (FDT) directed by Amparo Arango.
