SANTO DOMINGO.- The Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (Indotel) held the panel “New trends and technology for the radio industry”, within the framework of the celebration of the 55 years of the Dominican Association of Broadcasters (ADORA) and the Dominican Broadcasting Day.
The event served to learn about the evolution in the consumption habits of radio listeners, the impact of digital platforms and new consumption channels; as well as the challenges that the sector has ahead.
The opening words were given by the presidents of Indotel and the International Broadcasting Association (AIR), Nelson Arroyo and Eugenio Sosa Mendoza, respectively; while the president of ADORA, Rosa Olga Medrano, gave a speech of thanks.
“The radio has played an important role in the different historical moments of humanity and in times of crisis. When other media are lacking, radio remains the ultimate communication tool,” said Nelson Arroyo.
“At an institutional level, we celebrate that the private and public sectors share the role played by radio in the country, since radio has a strategic role in the development of democratic societies and for the development of healthy societies.” noted the president of the International Broadcasting Association (AIR).
Rosa Olga Medrano, president of the Dominican Association of Radio Broadcasters (ADORA), stated that in the framework of the celebration of the association’s 55th anniversary, she appreciates the support and accompaniment that Indotel has given and the commitment that they have assumed together in support to national radio.
In addition, he stated that the radio industry has modernized and is based on new platforms that make it reach everywhere, such as social networks.
