Santo Domingo.-A trough will cause downpours starting this Friday in some parts of the country, mainly in the southern region, the Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) reported this Thursday.
The rains will be recorded over the provinces of La Altagracia, La Romana and San Pedro de Macorís, in the east, as well as in San Cristóbal, Azua, Barahona, San Juan de la Maguana, Bahoruco, Independencia and Pedernales, in the south.
Meteorology explained that in other Dominican areas a high pressure system or anticyclone continues to dominate, which prevents the formation of clouds.
However, with the arrival of the trough, many provinces could register rain in the next few hours, according to the report from the meteorological agency.
