He Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) forecasts showers isolated in the morning, as well as downpours local, accompanied by thunderstorms and bursts of wind in the afternoon, product of the passage of a Tropical wave and the incidence of a Vaguada.
The institution explained that, during the early hours of the dayshowers are expected in localities of Altagracia, El Seibo, Hato Mayor, Samaná and María Trinidad Sánchez, among other provinces.
He added that For the afternoonlocal downpours are expected with thunderstorms and winding gusts in La Vega, San José de Ocoa, San Juan, Elías Piña, Dajabón, Azua, Santiago Rodríguez, Santiago and La Altagracia, among other nearby areas. These rainfall is expected to decrease, gradually, at night.
The Indomet’s National Center for Forecasts maintains at the weather alert level, La Vega and Altagracia provinces, given the risk of urban floods.
The agency warned that, despite the rains, temperatures will remain hot, typical of the summer season, so it recommends the population to hydrate frequently, wear light clothes and light colors, remain in fresh and ventilated places, and avoid sun exposure, without due protection, between 11:00 in the morning and 4:00 in the afternoon.
Cyclonic activity in surveillance
The indomet wakes the Gabrielle Tropical Stormlocated about 1,360 kilometers east of the Sotavento Islands, minor Antilles, with maximum winds of 85 km/h, and displacement west at 24 km/h.

It also keeps a tropical wave, near the Islands of Cabo Verde, with low probability of development in the next two to seven days.
The entity also indicated that it is forecast that a tropical wave leaves the west coast of Africa this Friday, and moves to the west-northwest of the tropical Atlantic, from this weekend, until the beginning of next week, with a probability of development of 20 %, in the next seven days.
