“I am going to the streets on October 12, in resistance and in indigenous struggle. We celebrate the struggle, resistance, hope and beauty of the indigenous peoples of our America,” said President Nicolás Maduro Moros during the World Congress in Defense of Mother Earth.
The head of state pointed out that Venezuela will accompany the mobilizations that are taking place throughout the continent, in support of the indigenous peoples. “On Sunday we accompany all of our America, from Venezuela we will have great mobilizations, because October 12 in Latin America is the Day of Resistance of Our Native Peoples.”
“We see how the indigenous peoples have resisted for centuries, we Indians have done it, that is why I say there the right of Christopher Columbus, who want to celebrate colonialism and genocide; because here we are the people of Guaicaipuro who take to the streets to celebrate the 500 years of resistance struggle. Long live the indigenous peoples of our America!”, expressed President Maduro.
He added that the new fight of the people of America is renewed to stop the supremacists and deniers, where a mitigation response to the climate phenomenon is sought. On the other hand, he invited the audience of the World Congress in Defense of Mother Earth to read the book Historical Roots of Ecosocialism in Venezuela by Bolívar, Chávez and Maduro, in which he considered himself a Bolivarian spokesperson.
