The indigenous peoples remain in active resistance to prevent Venezuelan territory from being occupied again by foreign powers, as happened more than 500 years ago, as indicated by the Vice Minister for Habitat, Lands and Communal Development, Marianny Romero during the program. Coffee in the Morning, broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión (VTV).
In response to imperialist threats, “indigenous peoples are active in an active resistance, in a permanent offensive, because we cannot neglect our territories,” in addition to pointing to the resources present in indigenous lands as “the first desire for power, to appropriate those territories.”
Likewise, he pointed out that on the part of the indigenous ethnic groups “all this comprehensive defense and sovereignty in the territory that we ancestrally carry in our blood is being deepened”, which arises from the traditional teachings of love for Mother Earth, which guarantees their ways of life.
Once again, he reiterated that indigenous peoples are located in strategic economic zones for Venezuela and whose sacred places are respected thanks to cooperation with the Bolivarian Government and together with coordination with the indigenous people.
A claim that has not only been the legislative advances or the simple commitment seen from the perception of the indigenous peoples, but the facts that are really in the presence of our peoples and communities.
“In those territories there are loyal people, there are committed people, people who are not going to allow any gringo, territory or imperial power,” Romero said.
Finally, he indicated that the next United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP30), to be held between November 10 and 21, represents “one more COP, where indigenous peoples are going to have great representation to show that it is the voice of the people who are going to participate in that COP.”
