The Indigenous Fund of the Brazilian Amazon Podáali opened on Monday (14) registrations for the Indigenous Sciences Award – Ancestral Solutions for the Climate, the Amazon and all lives. A pioneer initiative in facilitating access to resources by Amazonids (Natural of the Amazon), Podáali will include at least 47 actions or organizations that focus on the mitigation of climate change.
Three categories are included in the Indigenous Sciences Award: the first, focused on local indigenous collectives, ie groups that have no formal registration by CNPJ (National Register of Legal Entities). They can be composed of young people, women, guardians, teachers or brigade members, for example. Each of the contemplated groups will receive $ 20,000.
The second category covers indigenous organizations with CNPJ, regional, state or thematic (youth, women, teachers and others). The prize will be $ 40,000.
The third category is restricted to entities belonging to the Network of the Coordination of Indigenous Organizations of the Brazilian Amazon (COIAB), which covered the fund and is one of the main associations of the country’s indigenous movement. Among these entities are the articulation of indigenous peoples and organizations of Amapá and northern Pará -(Apoianp) and the articulation of the indigenous peoples of Tocantins (Arpit).
The deadline for registration of candidates for the prize ends on May 30. Those interested in more information can access the website of the podáali.
