One of the five suspects in the gang rape of a 17-year-old girl in Copacabana, in the south zone of Rio de Janeiro, was arrested this Tuesday (3) by civil police officers from the 12th DP, located in the same neighborhood.
According to the State Secretariat of Civil Police, upon feeling the siege closing after intense investigative work, the accused presented himself at the police station today with a lawyer.
On Friday (27), those involved had already been indicted by the 12th DP, which represented the arrest of the men and the apprehension of a teenager. “They will be responsible for the crime of rape and the minor will be responsible for an infraction similar to the same crime”, says the note.
According to the secretariat, investigations indicated that, in January of this year, the victim received a message from a student at her school inviting her to go to a friend’s house.
According to the Civil Police, upon arriving at the building, the teenager insinuated that they would do “something different”, which was immediately refused by the young woman.
“Inside the apartment, the victim was taken to a room, where she was locked with four men who insisted that she maintain relations with them. When she refused, they began to undress and carry out libidinous acts through physical and psychological violence against her.”
Efforts are underway to capture and hold accountable the others involved, who are considered fugitives.
