Although it is still some way off, seven points behind, Independiente maintains the illusion of getting into the qualifying zone for the Copa Sudamericana. Arsenal, on the other hand, is complicated in the lower part of the table of averages for relegation, despite the fact that it maintains a certain advantage over Aldosivi and Patronato de Paraná.
Not much had happened when Independiente took advantage, at 3m, from a counterattack: Ferreyra rejected a local corner, Batallini won the ball from Machado in midfield and Vallejo finished it with a right cross from the edge of the area. His first goal in the First Division. 1 to 0.
Arsenal felt the blow but little by little it settled down, with fewer ideas than sacrifice and push and a repeated formula: Chimino’s overflow on the right, the past center and Kruspzky’s entry at the far post. Three times he won the 10 of the “Arse” but never with efficiency or precision.
It also had a couple of confused attacks by Alexander Díaz inside the area for which Milton Álvarez had to intervene.
In the last quarter of an hour of the initial stage, “Rojo” regained the initiative with Vigo on the right, Vallejo’s mobility and Batallini’s intermittence and approached the local goal with some risk. It was not enough to increase the advantage but it was enough to calm Arsenal’s reaction and reach the break with a partial victory.
Independiente definitely left the ball to the local from the beginning of the complementand between the lack of creativity of some and the ambition of others, the party was hardly discreet.
Only at 15 did the first emotions come, first with a shot by Apaolaza inside the area that deflected into a rival and came out grazing Álvarez’s right post; and then with the response of “Rojo” that ended with a shot by Benegas that Medina managed to touch and Chimino took out at the goal line.
After this back and forth, the game ended up flattening out. “Arse” had some outbursts in which he collided with his inexperience or with Álvarez; and Julio César Falcioni’s team settled into the win and didn’t have any surprises.
On the next date, the 23rd, Arsenal will visit Newell’s Old Boys (Tuesday from 4:30 p.m.) and Independiente will host Central Córdoba in Santiago del Estero (Wednesday at 9:30 p.m.).
