Independiente Petrolero de Sucre gave one of the surprises of the fifth date of the tournament series. They visited Vaca Díez and it was with a 0-1 victory, at the Roberto Jordán de Cobija stadium. The Chuquisaqueños are still at the bottom of group C with 3 points, while the Pandinos could not recover the lead and stayed in second place with 9 points.
Much of the first half was emotionless, because football was permanently interrupted with sudden fouls on both sides that, in some cases, their protagonists almost came to blows.
In minute 41, Elieser Quiñones pushed striker Juan Godoy into the area and La Paz referee Juan Marcelo Castro charged penalty for the visit. Due to the protests and to clear up doubts, the judge resorted to the VAR and ratified his decision.
Five minutes laterThomaz Santos (45’+1) turned the maximum penalty into a goal, with a powerful shot to the right side of goalkeeper Enzo Rodríguez, who had chosen his near post.
The first stage was already expiring, but there was time for something else. Pedro Taborga (45’+4) left Vaca Díez with ten players because he was sent off for a double yellow warning. Things were getting uphill for those led by DT Carlos Fonseca.
In the complement, as expected and despite having one less manthe pandinos turned with everything to the attack in search of the comeback.
The closest that Vaca Díez was to the tie was in the 76th minute, when José Miguel Briseño crashed the ball into the crossbar and then stung almost over the line. The visit was saved and the locals were left wanting to shout the goal.
The locals did not give up, they tried more willingly than with arguments to level the score, but they could not achieve their goal despite the effort exposed on the field of play.
When 10 minutes of added time were played, Joel Fernández saw the red for a double yellow warning and in this way Vaca Díez finished the game with nine players.
The Chuquisaqueños took the victory of Cobija, which also allows them breathe a little easier on the descent table.
