Independent Party supported new security strategy proposed by Interior

The Independent Party (PI) valued “very positively” the proposed Comprehensive and Preventive Security Strategywhich was presented by the Ministry of the Interior, according to a statement by the party led by the Minister of Labor and Social Security, Pablo Mieres, this Sunday.

The strategy collects contributions from the parties that make up the government coalition, among which is the PI. The statement highlighted “the effort to overcome approaches focused on solely punitive aspects and addressing long-delayed structural aspects, such as the management of the prison system.”

In any case, the document stated that “it is necessary to continue deepening and enriching” some of the measures included in the strategy.

The Integral and Preventive Security Strategy was officially presented by the Minister of the Interior, Luis Alberto Heber, on March 13.

The strategy is made up of 15 measures“which are organized into four large groups: information systems, social and community prevention, police prevention, and tertiary prevention,” the Presidency disclosed at the time.

It is expected that these measures can begin to be applied in the second half of 2023.

On the other hand, the PI statement indicated that the Social Security reform “has been widely discussed throughout society as a whole, it is a gradual, long-term reform.”

In this regard, he added: “It is a reform that is not only essential: it is urgent and it arises from the need to guarantee the next generations that they will be able to receive adequate and comprehensive pensions for all”.

“With this reform, 50% of retirees with lower incomes will have better retirements and the other 50% will have retirements equal to or better than the current ones. It is also noteworthy that the reform lays the foundations for. a single social security system, where everyone has similar rules of the game,” the statement added.
