The deputies of the independent caucus Juan Diego Vásquez and Gabriel Silva announced on the afternoon of this Tuesday, June 7, that they will not be re-elected for the 2024 elections.
Through a letter, which was published on social networks, and which was later confirmed at a press conference, Vásquez and Silva assured that they would not run for the next elections, following the commitment they made in 2019 not to be re-elected.
In the letter signed by both deputies, they detailed a series of promises that, in their opinion, they have fulfilled so far, such as not naming family members, not getting paid if they do not attend the Assembly, fighting corruption, not registering in political parties, among others.
“We are going to do the work for which we were elected to do until June 30, 2024, if God gives us life and we are going to do it with more strength, with more impetus and with the experience we have acquired,” said Vásquez. by assuring that they will continue to work for Panama supporting the youth of the Vamos Coalition.
Likewise, Silva said that he will not seek re-election as a deputy, although he did not rule out running for other positions in the future.
