Venezuela activated this Friday the plan called “Independence 200” in the coastal states of Aragua, Falcón and Zulia, which join La Guaira and Carabobo, with the aim, according to Nicolás Maduro, of “guaranteeing the comprehensive defense capacity of the territory”, in the face of the military deployment that the United States maintains in the Caribbean Sea.
The official leader announced the activation, starting at 5:00 am, of the Bolivarian Militia and all the social forces of the so-called Comprehensive Defense Operational Zones (ZODI) in Aragua, Falcón and Zulia (border region with Colombia) so that, he said, they carry out the development, deployment and evaluation of 27 “fundamental actions to guarantee defense capacity.”
Maduro, who did not explain what these actions consist ofHe added through his Telegram channel that Venezuela “is winning peace.”
Aragua Plan
Shortly before, the Minister of the Interior, Diosdado Cabello, led the implementation of the plan in Aragua, where he said that the mobilization includes taking control of key spacessuch as hospitals, gas stations and electrical installations, for “the protection of the people.”
“We prepare for defense, we prepare for the counterattack, but the country has to continue functioning. Everything has to continue functioning. Today there is class, today is Friday, today there is class, without any type of problem, but we are mobilized,” he indicated.
And he added: “Let the world know, because some believe that this aggression is only against Venezuela. No, it is not only against Venezuela. What happens is that, (…) as here we have shown that we have had the strength to resist all the attacks, that is why they attack Venezuela, but then they would go for those who today remain silent when Venezuela is attacked.”
Activation of the Independence 200 plan
On Wednesday, authorities activated the “Independencia 200” plan in Carabobo and La Guaira, announced in September.
The head of Defense, Vladimir Padrino López, indicated that The country carries out exercises on the hypothesis of a “military aggression” by the United States.
In this regard, the minister clarified that he does not want to produce alarmism, but rather to give realism to the situation, after mentioning the “irrationality with which North American imperialism acts.”
According to Maduro, the so-called comprehensive defense zones will be surprisingly activated throughout the territory, as has already been done in these five regions facing the Caribbean Sea.
The United States defends its deployment as an operation against alleged drug trafficking from the South American nation, while the Maduro Executive insists that it is a threat to promote a “regime change.”
