The National Institute for the Defense of Competition and the Protection of Intellectual Property (Indecopi) urged airlines to comply with the provisions of the Consumer Protection and Defense Code, ratified by the Judiciary, which allows endorsing or transferring the ownership of tickets purchased in favor of another consumer or postponing the completion of the trip.
The authority explained that the Permanent Constitutional and Social Law Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice specified that the limitation on the endorsement of air tickets for round trip or round trip trips violates article 66 of the Consumer Protection and Defense Code and affects the rights that travelers have to endorse their air tickets.
About, Julián Palacín Gutiérrez, head of Indecopiremarked that any transport user who feels their rights have been violated can make their claim virtually or in person, through the channels available to them, as well as through the institution’s offices throughout the country.
It should be noted that recently the Power of attorney gave reason to Indecopi after a request from the Avianca airlinewhich requested the annulment of Resolution No. 162-2018/SPC-Indecopi.
However, after exhausting the various instances and after an appeal, the aforementioned lawsuit was declared unfounded.
