After learning that some establishments installed in the shopping center jockey square they would not be displaying the prices of their products in an accessible and perceptible way for the consumer, as required by law, the Indecopi Inspection Directorate began monitoring 237 suppliers before the next Christmas campaign.
The institution notified the establishments of the shopping center in order to urge them to comply with said obligation, established in article 5.1 of the Consumer Protection and Defense Code.
He added that these actions will be replicated in other shopping centers nationwide.
The entity indicated that it is important to know that no commercial policy or practice can go against the rights of the consumer, such as access to information on the price, which allows them to compare the offer that exists in the market and make an appropriate one. consumption decision.
In addition, the inspectors reminded providers that they have the obligation to have a complaints book, which must be provided to consumers when they request it to formulate their complaint or claim. Also have the notice of the claims book; and guarantee preferential care for pregnant women, children, the elderly and people with disabilities.
If any non-compliance is detected and the suppliers persist in their actions, the Inspection Directorate will initiate an investigation and may later recommend to the decision-making bodies of Indecopi the initiation of an administrative sanctioning procedure, which could end with the imposition of fines of up to 450 UIT, that is, S/ 2,070,000.
