Indecopi reported that it carried out the third monitoring of markets, supermarkets and bakeries in Lima and 18 regions of the country to verify that the exemption from General sales tax (IGV) of mass consumption products, such as chicken, fresh chicken eggs, sugar, pasta and bread, benefits Peruvian families.
As a result of these actions, it was identified that four of the products in question lowered their prices, but only eviscerated chicken rose in the food markets.
According to a report from the governing body, before the IGV exemption, this bird per kilo cost S/ 9.25 and after the measure its price registered S/ 10.43; that is, an increase of S / 1.18. [Ver cuadro]
strategic meetings
Likewise, Indecopi, through the Directorate of the National Authority for Consumer Protection, has been meeting with key players from different economic sectors, such as the Peruvian Poultry Association (APA), the Peruvian Winemakers Association (ABP) and the Peruvian Association of Bakery and Pastry Entrepreneurs (Aspan) to promote VAT exemption for chicken and free-range eggs.
How to report a supplier that does not apply the exemption?
The governing body suggested that it should be purchased in formal establishments, require proof of payment and check that the IGV is not charged for the exempted products.
Likewise, keep the proof of payment to exercise your right as a consumer.
He specified that if the suppliers persist with the collection of the IGV (according to proof of payment) they can report it to Indecopi through:
