The National Institute for the Defense of Competition and the Protection of Intellectual Property (Indecopi) ex officio initiated a preliminary investigation into the advertising related to the dissemination of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022which is disseminated through different media in the country, as stated by the regulatory body today.
In this regard, through the Technical Secretariat of the Commission for the Control of Unfair Competition (CCD) information has been requested on all the announcements that have been disseminated and are being disseminated in order to verify their veracity.

The CCD constantly monitors the advertising that is disseminated in the market, in order to guarantee that it respects the rights of consumers and the rules of commercial advertising.
“In this regard, it should be remembered that the dissemination of advertising for products or services with false allegations or not supported by suitable evidence that proves their veracity constitutes an act of deception, so providers or advertisers must ensure that they have all the support to the advertising they broadcast”, indicated the Technical Secretariat.
Likewise, he explained that in case of indications of presumed infractions, the Technical Secretariat of the CCD is empowered to initiate, if applicable, administrative sanctioning procedures, which, if infractions are verified, could lead to the imposition of fines of up to 700 Tax Units (UIT), equivalent to S/ 3 million 220,000.
