The document indicates that in the detention centers of the National Criminal System: Jorge Navarro “La Modelo”, La Esperanza, Waswalí in Matagalpa, Chinandega, Chontales, Estelí and Granada, reports of ill-treatment, cruel, inhuman, degrading, unhealthy and lack of medical care for political prisoners.

“Of the 30 people detained in the “El Chipote” Judicial Assistance Directorate, 27 were convicted. Of the total of 171 political prisoners in the context of April 2018, 126 are in the different centers of the National Penitentiary System, 30 in the Directorate of Judicial Assistance (DAJ) known as “El Chipote”, in Managua. “On the other hand, during family visits and delivery of parcels, this month there was knowledge of at least 2 families who were forced by prison guards to sign documents that mention that the detainee is receiving good treatment, although not there is evidence of the aforementioned treatment. However, when families refuse to sign they are victims of threats about visiting limits or parcel restrictions », he adds.
